Dr. Michael Allshouse became a doctor because it melded his interest in science with an ability to do things to help other people while allowing him to work with his hands and brain simultaneously. Some of his favorite things about East Tennessee are the truly genuine people and the beautiful environment. 

Dr. Allshouse wants his patients not to be defined by their disabilities, and is passionate about giving each patient the chance to lead as normal a life as possible. He wants to help alleviate pain or suffering while also inspiring his patients to do better. Dr. Allshouse believes his wife and children have taught him the most important lessons in how to be a better man and physician and how to be more compassionate to people, which in turn help him provide better patient care.
